Bolton Arboretum
FRIENDS OF HARWOOD & LONGSIGHT PARK WOOD
Bolton Arboretum sits at the south end of Longsight Park, connected by Daubenton's bridge, over Bradshaw Brook and a narrow path. Alternatively it can be directly accessed at the south site by a small car park at Bradshaw Brow. The area is well signed with trails running through, including the Kingfisher Trail, and a football pitch. There are 49 mature tree species, with a walking map displayed in the car park. It is an informal mix of deciduous and evergreen trees in an open parkland setting, bound by Bradshaw Brook on one side. Bradshaw Brook is a Greater Manchester area of biological interest. You may occasionally see rabbit, roe deer, fox , brown trout and kingfishers. There are benches and a picnic bench, one bin and unfortunately no toilet facilities. There is one hard core path and otherwise grass. This arboretum was awarded a community green flag in 2020&21 to friends of Longsight park.
