We encourage the planting of native broadleaf trees because:

  • they are crucial for our wildlife – many native insects, birds and other animals would find it hard to survive without the food and shelter they provide
  • local plants are adapted to local soils and climate and often have lower maintenance requirements
  • once established, native plants can usually withstand long periods of dry weather
  • many will grow in difficult areas of the garden with little or no fertiliser.

Every tree that we provide comes from seeds sourced and grown in the UK. Find out more about our UK sourced and grown scheme.
