Angus Millennium Forest - West Common Wood
ANGUS COUNCIL WOOD
Part of the Angus Millennium Forest for Scotland, this major project is Angus Council's largest and enduring celebration of the new millennium. The 54 new woodlands, covering 92 hectares, are a mixture of existing and newly planted/restored woodland. Around 189,000 trees including oak, hazel, willow, birch, rowan, aspen, ash and gean have been planted to provide a varied wildlife habitat. The woodlands are complemented by existing and recently created semi-natural habitats such as hedges, wildflower meadows, riverbanks, burns and disused railway lines, creating valuable wildlife corridors into urban area. This woodland provides a great coastal migratory bird haven. The park setting is noted for it Declaration of Arbroath statue.
