The site includes a shelterbelt of mature trees (0.6ha) and four areas of open ground(total 0.9ha). Two of the open space areas, at the south edge, are mown grass areas on the line of the Antonine Wall. There is an amenity grassland at the north-east corner of the site and a small, unmanaged open area at trhe north-west corner of the site. The woodland shelterbelt (area0.6ha) is dominated by mature Oaks. Beech and Sycamore are common and ash and Scots pine are also present. Most of the trees are 100 years old but there are some younger (30-60 year old) trees. Dense natural regeneration (particularly ash and beech, with occasional sycamore) occurs in places, particularly towards the west end of the shelterbelt.
