This large area, also known as Ironhirst Moss, is one of a number of areas of the extensive, low-lying Lochar Moss. There are two access points. One from the Moss Road near Mouswald, and another from the Bankend Road (not checked.) The forest is at varying stages of production. A variety of conifers can be found, at various ages. There are some areas of wind blow, with regeneration of seedlings, including some birch. Fungi, flowers, insects and birds add to the experience on limited hard paths.
