Dalton Bank is 50 acres of woodland and grassland, and in 1995 the site was granted Local Nature Reserve status. A mix of conifer plantations and native woodlands, the grassland is alive with crickets and other insects in the summer and offers a good place to hunt for fungi in the autumn. The site has facilities such as a dipping platform over a pond, and a small outdoor teaching area and information boards.
