This oak woodland was largely planted on hazel coppice in the early 20th century creating a Local Nature Reserve full of interest. A large grassy bank runs across this woodland (a flood control bund) with Yeading Brook flowing around the edge. Grassland, partly grazed by cattle, adds further diversity. Managed by London Wildlife Trust since 1983 on behalf of Hillingdon Council, work is underway to slowly diversify the woodland, and increase its size through planting and natural regeneration. It forms part of the wider Yeading Brook Meadows Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation, linked to other sites by the Hillingdon Trail.
