Raasay is a very special, very quiet island accessed by a ferry from Skye, and a trip to this forest is a real adventure! Predominantly a conifer plantation, it is within easy walking distance from where the ferry berths (why not leave the car behind?) and there is a great network of paths through the forest and you can easily add on a trip up the distinctive Dun Caan too. There is a lot of archaeology - recent and ancient - in the area, and you may also see sea and golden eagles.
