Prescott Pinetum (also known as either Uplyme or Woodhouse Pinetum) sits on a north-east facing slope and is visible from the village of Uplyme, the B3165 (Lyme Road) and the nearby houses. Surrounding land use is predominantly grass pasture or private gardens. There is a linkage of broadleaved woodland from the Pinetum to the north.

The wood is at the eastern end of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). This is characterised by coastal plateaux intersected by steep wooded scarp slopes. It is also within the Blackdown Hills National Character Area.
