Inchnacardoch Forest is on the border of the bustling Highland town of Fort Augustus. There are many way marked routes through the forest and some spectacular views of the Great Glen and Loch Ness. Inchnacardoch was one of the first forests planted by the Forestry Commission in 1919. There is a good mixture of conifer plantation and native trees, particularly birch. Some of the paths through this wood, although well maintained, can be very steep!
