Great Ditch Wood was the old name for this ancient oak and hazel woodland. Great displays of bluebells with accompanying bird song bring the wood alive during the spring. Managed by London Wildlife Trust, the Local Nature Reserve, which includes open pastures, is complemented by the Yeading Brook flowing through it. The site is linked to the nearby Ten Acre Wood by the Brook and the Hillingdon Trail; both Woods form part of the Yeading Brook Meadows Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation.
