The woodland lies on the north-western edge of Gee Cross, Hyde. The woodland contains a mosaic of important wildlife habitats and being close to residential areas, has a significant effect on the well-being and quality of life of the local community. The main habitats are woodland ' with some trees 150+ years old and many beautiful ground flora, grassland ' a mixture of long grass habitats for wildlife and shorter areas for recreation, and wetlands ' valuable for a variety of visiting wildlife.
