Glen Brittle is located on the rugged West coast of the Isle of Skye at the foot of the Black Cuillin mountain range and the shore of Loch Brittle. It is one of the best places to access the ferocious Black Cuillin mountains, with their jagged greyness that seems completely out of place in its green island setting. At the southern end of Glen Brittle the River Brittle flows into Loch Brittle. There is an excellent beach here, of dark sand that reflects well the dark grey of the mountains above. There are a number of paths and walks in the area, but the main ridge of the Cuillin is a place for experienced scramblers and climbers rather than for walkers.
