With strange undulating scenery and acid grassland the site is the legacy of sand extraction, now populated by young woodland, orchids and rabbits. Oak and hawthorn shield the sky in this pocket nature reserve, managed by London Wildlife Trust on behalf of Hillingdon Council. Access is likely to be improved once the nearby HS2 works are completed. See: www.wildlondon.org.uk/nature-reserves/dews-farm-sandpits
