Darwell Wood is adjacent to the south-west corner of Darwell Reservoir. Spectacular displays of wild garlic and bluebells carpet the broadleaf woodland in the spring. Various species of dragonflies and damselflies can be seen around the streams and reservoir. Visitors to the wood may hear the songs of birds such as siskin, crossbill, buzzard, nightjar and sparrowhawk, as well as the knocking of green woodpeckers.
