A narrow, steep-sided wood with a stream at the bottom of a ravine running parallel with the B5238 Crown Lane, Horwich. 'Clough' means a deep ravine (from the Old English). Access is restricted by surrounding houses and the degree of slope. This is not a 'walking wood'! The wood consists of large, tall, mature, broad-leaved trees such as sycamore, beech, ash, birch and hawthorn.
