Claybury Woods
LONDON BOROUGH OF REDBRIDGE WOOD
This ancient woodland, mainly Hornbeam coppice and standard Oak trees, this traditionally managed woodland has a locally renowned display of spring flowers, including bluebells and ramsons (wild garlic). This is double wood of Claybury Wood & Hospital Hill Wood, at the time divided by a ditch, which is still evident today. The Woods of Claybury were part of the larger estate that made up the infamous Victorian era asylum, Claybury Hosptial, which closed in 1997. The grounds of the estate, including the woods, were formerly adopted as a public open space in 2010.
