Native broadleaf woodland was planted on much of the site in November 1998 under the 'Woods on Your Doorstep' project. The area of the site which has not been planted with trees has been left as open grassland which will be managed as a meadow with a view to increasing the diversity of the sward and enhancing the colony of bee orchids that are present. However the most important feature of the site is the informal public access.
