Saved: Coed Wern, Glasinfryn
Important woodland has been saved after holiday park proposals in Glasinfryn, near Bangor, were rejected.
A proposal for several holiday lodges that threatened a significant proportion of Coed Wern-ty-gwyn has been rejected.
After seven years of campaigning, the proposal finally went to planning committee which voted to refuse it, despite the planning officer's recommendation to approve.
Whilst other factors contributed to the committee's decision, we welcome this commitment to protecting Coed Wern-ty-gwyn. The ancient woodland designation was recently removed for most areas of the site, but it is still an important woodland that would have been heavily impacted by the holiday lodges.
We maintained our objection throughout and are grateful to everyone who joined our campaign to save the wood from development. Over 5,000 of you emailed Gwynedd Council to object. Thank you.
