Malleny House dates from 1637 and the garden is said to have been planted in the 17th Century. The garden is famous for the large Yew trees and one of the largest rose collections in Scotland. The woods can be accessed through a wrought iron gate behind the fountain. There are no real paths in the woods, which have a mix of broad-leave trees and holly bushes, but from the Malleny gardens woods you can follow a good path through Bog Wood to emerge on Harlaw Gait off Harlaw Road.
