Lhanbryde wood is a 10-minute drive to the east of Elgin. It is more commonly known locally as Crooked wood. There are a variety of walking trails including a signed circular route. The wood is a commercial pine plantation with an established undergrowth consisting of ferns, heather and bilberry. Wildlife that can be spotted include deer, red squirrels, butterflies, buzzards and wrens. Parking is available in the villages of Lhanbryde and Urquhart from where the wood can be accessed.
