Leigh to Tyldesley disused railway line

This green corridor passes Lilford and Colliers Woods, providing a route which has been rich in bird life and wild flowers. Lined with silver birch, with lots of Fly Algaric in autumn, it is now being transformed as part of the guided busway development. Great crested newts have been relocated to a purpose-built pond in a nearby field to ensure they are not affected by the works and TfGM have made a commitment to keep tree removal to a minimum and to plant more trees elsewhere than it removes.
