Fox Holes Dene is one of the most accessible parts of the Durham Coast. A tarmac path runs around the field here and this cache is fully wheelchair accessible. It is thought that Fox Holes Dene takes its name from a hermit called 'the fox' who reputedly lived in a cave in the dene. It is one of the deepest and steepest denes on the coast.
