A lovely footpath leading up to the ruins of Castle Varrich in the village of Tongue in Sutherland. The foot path takes you down through fields, over the river and heads upwards to the Castle. The first part of the walk is a narrow path but becomes a wide track up a rather steep gradient. All worth the effort for the amazing views looking up Ben Loyal and the Kyle of Tongue. Good mixed woodland with young plantings. Good habitat for birds and insects. Benches at various points to enjoy the views
