Ewhurst Wood is the remnant of an area of Ancient Woodland and a Site of Nature Conservation Importance. Ancient woodland indicator species such as bluebell, wood anemone and goldilocks buttercup can be found here, together with rowan, wild cherry and the uncommon wild service-tree. Dead and decaying wood attracts great spotted-wood peckers and tree creepers. There are old wood banks, ditches and abundant deadwood.
