Dalkeith Country Estate

A visitor to the estate may find it difficult to believe that they are only five miles from the centre of Edinburgh. Dalkeith Country Park is one of the region's most popular country parks. The woodlands have been carefully managed for centuries at Dalkeith and are made up of about 70% broadleaved and 30% conifer trees. In the centre of the parkland is the Old Oakwood which is over 700 years old and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
