A small, 'ribbon' of mixed woodland running south-west to north-east dissected by the A6 By-pass at Blackrod. The south-west section, accessed by a stile, is the more attractive with good pathways providing an amenity for local dog walkers. The north-east section, accessed by a gate, is wetter, more undulating and is used by mountain and off-road bikers so that pathways are muddy. Beech, birch, hazel and holly are evident, with some interesting fungi on dead and fallen trees.
