Ferryhill Carrs is a wonderful mix of fen (carrs), open water, ancient semi-natural woodland, grassland and scrub habitats. The reserve is a haven for a number of bird species including willow warbler, blackcap, lesser white-throat, and yellow hammer. A network of footpaths lead visitors to most of the habitats on site, although some walkers may find the steps and steep slopes leading into the reserve difficult to negotiate.
