A beautiful, large Forestry Commission wood with ancient heathland areas some maintained by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. Mixed trees, though many are conifers. There are many different paths to choose from. Great for walking and dogs love it. Many different birds and small mammals and varied flora. Known for its population of adders. Very peaceful. Sometimes has small herd of wild cattle in one of the enclosed areas. Well worth a visit.
