About us
Who we are
The Woodland Trust is the UK's largest woodland conservation charity.
We go to great lengths to ensure that you receive the right communications from us.
Chances are that you have received a service email from us because you have interacted with the Woodland Trust in a way that we have assessed as being appropriate for this type of communication. Examples of these interactions could include:
If this is the case, we would like to thank you.
We also send a small number of service emails (also known as transactional emails) for other reasons.
Below, you'll find more information outlining the service emails we send and what you can expect to receive.
If you have donated over a certain amount, you will receive a donation confirmation in which we will thank you for your generosity. If your donation has been unsuccessful for any reason, then you will receive an email saying your donation has been declined or abandoned. We will explain how you can complete it, if you still wish to.
If you have made a purchase from us, you will receive a confirmation thanking you for your order and providing you with information regarding the sale. Once your order has been dispatched, we may then send a confirmation which might include an invoice, dispatch note, packing list and any other documents. This may also contain the invoice address, the address your order will be sent to (if different to the invoice address) and, in some cases, the consignee’s name.
If you have registered for one of our events, these emails confirm your place and provide other information about the event. If we need to cancel, rearrange or update the event, we will contact you to explain why things have changed and what will happen next under legitimate interest. We may ask for your feedback after the event has taken place. We will apply service emails to some events where there is no cost involved and you have a relevant connection.
If you have purchased one of our dedication products (or one has been purchased for you as a gift), you’ll receive an order confirmation. Depending on the product, we may also need to keep you updated about your purchase.
If you have applied for one of our tree packs, you will be informed if your application is successful. Later, we will provide updates and information about your order.
If you are a member of the Woodland Trust, these emails are part of your regular membership communications with us. They aim to provide you with the membership benefits we've promised, along with reminders about our services and membership renewal processes.
If you volunteer for the Woodland Trust, we will send you emails which are part of our normal volunteer communications, such as volunteering opportunities or changes to our processes.
If you have entered for the opportunity to receive some of our free trees and are successful, we will send you emails to provide you with further information relating to your order, such as pick up locations, timing and delivery information.
If you inform us that you are considering leaving a gift in your will to the Woodland Trust, we will send you relevant information and updates regarding the work we do, such as thank you events.
We will only send service emails when:
Receiving a service email does not mean you are now subscribed to receive other emails from the Woodland Trust. Service emails are often system generated and only sent in one of the instances listed in the section above, called ‘Service emails we send’.
If you have opted in at any point, then you will continue to receive emails such as our e-newsletter. Unless our service email is in your best interests, we will apply the preferences you have supplied to us.
If you would like to change the way you hear from us or how we use your information, or you do not want to receive any marketing from us, please call 0330 333 3300 or email supporters@woodlandtrust.org.uk.
You can also update your details on our online preference portal.
