Agroforestry for timber products and nuts, April 2017 case study

This case study looks at the benefits of agroforestry for timber, biodiversity, coppice and nut production.

Maple Farm is a 138-hectare organic farm of fields and hedges. The farm has planted trees in three large fields, and aims to:

  • improve low soil fertility
  • generate new sources of income
  • increase biodiversity
  • increase production of wood resource
  • explore diversification through wood fuel and nuts (hazel).
