Restoring ancient woodland
Find out how our restoration work is encouraging ancient woodland to recover and reverse years of decline.
This case study looks at the restoration of Fingle Woods in Devon in a partnership between the Woodland Trust and National Trust.
The work involves gradually removing maturing conifer to return the wood to broadleaves, but in a way that protects and enhances the habitat of the dormice living there.
It also provided the opportunity to monitor them and observe their behaviours and feeding habits.Download PDF (1.51 MB)
