Addessing tree disease case study, 2016

How does the presence of tree disease affect ancient woodland restoration? This case study considers challenging restoration work at Wentwood – one of the largest remaining blocks of ancient woodland in Wales.

During restoration, plantations of larch were found to have the disease Phytophthora ramorum.  What measures were taken to re-establish the canopy and help create a more robust landscape?
