On 7 May, voters will elect representatives to the Welsh Senedd, Scottish Parliament, and 5,014 council seats across 136 local authorities in England. The results could bring real change for nature across the UK. Join us in urging candidates to recognise woods and trees in their plans.

What difference will the elections make?

Devolved governments and local authorities make important decisions about how woods and trees are prioritised, planted and protected.

Trees offer some of the best solutions to the most pressing problems our society faces. They lock up carbon, support wildlife, and provide benefits for our mental and physical health.

Amidst the climate and nature crises, we all need access to the vital benefits of trees. They are key to happy communities, to a robust economy and a healthy environment. We need our elected representatives to see trees as a solution, not a liability.

Tell your candidates how important trees are

Our combined voices have the power to make change happen and create a brighter, healthier future.

If you live in Scotland or Wales, email all the candidates in your constituency in just two minutes using our simple form.

If you live in England and have local elections in your area, find out who your candidates are by visiting whocanivotefor.co.uk. Official candidate lists will be published from 9 April. Ask them how they will prioritise nature recovery and help more residents access the benefits of trees and woods where you live.

You can use our nature emergency scorecard to find out what your local authority is already doing and what still needs to be done.
