A place of wet weather, unique animals and lush plant life, the rainforest is an extraordinary ecosystem characterised by high rainfall levels, steady temperatures and diverse, complex habitats.
Whether it’s the warm tropical rainforests near the equator or the cooler temperate rainforests of higher latitudes, these green lungs of the Earth are vital for people and nature.
Together, they clean our air, nourish our waterways, mitigate climate change and provide food and shelter, not just to the millions of species which call them home, but also to humans. Which is why halting the continued loss of rainforest across the globe is so important.
