APPG Ancient Woodland and Veteran Trees

The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Ancient Woodland and Veteran Trees meets several times a year.

It brings together members of both Houses of Parliament, from across the political spectrum, to discuss how they can work together to promote the protection and enhancement of ancient woods and trees.

Greener UK

Along with 13 other major conservation and political voices from across the UK, we have formed the Greener UK coalition. Collectively we bring more than 8 million members and supporters together.

We’re in the midst of huge political change. We need the next UK government to go beyond simple safeguarding protections and restore nature and natural resources within a generation, as set out in the Greener UK vision statement.

We must act now to improve the environmental protections and shape a new land use policy for the UK which takes better advantage of the huge benefits woods and trees offer.

Wildlife and Countryside Link

Wildlife and Countryside Link (Link) is the largest environment and wildlife coalition in England, bringing together 52 organisations to use their strong joint voice for the protection of nature.

Together Link members have the support of over eight million people in the UK and directly protect over 750,000 hectares of land and 800 miles of coastline.

Aldersgate Group

The Aldersgate Group is a membership organisation composed of some of the largest businesses in the UK.

The group has a collective global turnover of nearly £600bn and includes leading NGOs, professional institutes, public sector bodies and politicians from across the political spectrum. Through targeted political engagement, evidence gathering and policy development, we advocate the business case for decarbonising the UK economy, improving resource efficiency and investing in the natural environment.

Climate Coalition

We're an active member of The Climate Coalition, a group of over 100 organisations dedicated to limiting the impact of climate change on the people, places and life we love.

Our role in the coalition is to highlight the challenges woods and trees face from climate change, and their role as part of the solution in managing its effects.

About us

The Northern Forest

The North of England has significantly less woodland cover than the rest of the country, but not for much longer. With our partners we are planting 50 million trees and transforming the landscape of northern England.
