Locally known as Heathhall Woodland this is a large expanse of woodland planted on Part of Lochar Moss. It has several entrances and a network of paths. A local cycle way from Locharbriggs to Dumfries is on the northern side if the wood. There are a mixture of trees, both broadleaf and deciduous. A car park adjacent to the A709, Lockerbie-Dumfries road leads into the wood on a firm track. Other entrances, near Heathhall have smaller or no specific areas for parking. Local bus services are good.
