Sydenham Hill Wood
LONDON WILDLIFE TRUST WOOD
With the adjacent Dulwich Wood, forms the largest remaining fragment of the historic Great North Wood that once covered much of the high ground in this part of London. Mixed oak and hornbeam woodland with naturalised former Victorian mansion gardens , pond, folly and old railway trackbed, tunnel & footbridge, it has been managed by London Wildlife Trust since 1982 after a campaign to prevent much of it from being built on. Now a Local Nature Reserve and both woods are a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation.
