Southfield, Lennoxtown
EAST DUNBARTONSHIRE COUNCIL WOOD
Mixed broadleaved woodland with a variety of stands and habitats. Almost half of the woodland has a dense camopy dominated by semi-mature goat willow. This stand includes areas of new planting (ash, oak, alder in tubes) and small patches of Japanese knotweed and snowberry.
Approximately 20% of the woodland is dominated by widely-spaced mature and over-mature beech and oak. This stand has much natural regeneration, particularly of beech. Most of the remaining area is either open space or colonising scrub. This includes a power-line wayleave and several former grassland areas.
