Denham Lock Wood SSSI
LONDON WILDLIFE TRUST WOOD
One of the largest and finest wet woodlands in London, this is dominated by willows, alder and a poplar plantation, interspersed by a ditch and channel network between the lake and Frays River. A Site of Special Scientific Interest it has been managed by London Wildlife Trust since 1990 as part of the larger Frays Valley Local Nature Reserve. Notable species include glow-worm and little egret, but it appears the tiny Desmoulin's whorl-snail is no longer present. See: www.wildlondon.org.uk/nature-reserves/denham-lock-wood
