A few minutes walk from Barnard Castle, Deepdale Wood is one of Teesdale's finest and most beautiful woods. Deepdale is an ancient semi-natural wood, with many species of woodland flowers including Bluebells, Primroses, Wild Garlic and Wood Anemone. More unusual flowers include Toothwort, Yellow Star of Bethlehem and Wood Barley. There is a good network of footpaths with footbridges and stepping stones across the Deepdale Beck and the Ray Gill.
