There are many coniferous plantations surrounding Hambleton, which are important features in the local landscape and provide a great habitat for wildlife. The best way to explore the woods is via the Cleveland Way National Trail, which passes through the area. Within the woods there is the remnants of Casten Dike, an earthwork dating back to the Bronze Age.
