New Moss Wood was planted in the late 1990s as part of the Red Rose Forest which was launched in 1991 to transform Greater Manchester’s landscape with trees and woodland. The wood is a lovely contrast to the surrounding cultivated, flat farmed landscape and supports a wide range of plants and wildlife, including many bird and butterfly species.
