Woolfall Heath Meadow was established through a 'creative conservation' project delivered by Landlife in 1994. Top soil removal exposed the less fertile subsoil sustaining a diversity meadow species. The River Alt runs through the site with a valuable reedbed habitat created from de-canalising a section into a multi- channel watercourse. Woodland frames these habitats which are designated as Local Wildlife Sites. A site major restoration project was completed in 2013 to improve public use.
