Hackingknife Wood is a patch of woodland that forms part of the Werneth Lowe country park. It houses native trees such as holly, oak and rowan. There doesn't appear to be access from inside the park near the war memorial, but there is a bikes and horses only path which seems to go down this way. The country park provides acres of hilly ground for walking and on a clear day you can see over to Manchester, Saddleworth Moor and even Wales.
