Treecreepers run Forest School sessions for young people in Gloucestershire.

We provide long-term woodland based programmes for schools and individuals referred by educational and support agencies. Courses are aimed at working with the whole child to build confidence, develop social and communication skills, increase motivation and concentration, improve stamina and physical ability and give young people the sense that they have talents and are valued.

Not to be underestimated is the effect of the beautiful environment we work in with space to run, climb, shout, discover, play, develop and learn. Being close to nature in such a magical setting encourages these young people, some of whom struggle to engage at school, to participate in games and tasks and provides opportunities for positive social interaction. Children are able to test physical and emotional boundaries safely and are actively involved in risk assessing the environment.

The learning that takes place at Treecreepers is based in play and exploration and is built upon week-on-week. Depending on the age and composition of the groups, activities can include: nature detectives, bug hunts, woodland art, den making, tool use, fire lighting, tracking skills, story-telling, orienteering, sensory exploration and much, much more!

In all aspects of our provision children are encouraged to respect the natural environment.
