Get some inspiration and ideas, then get out there for some green fingered fun!

The downloads are all themed and completely free, they are made up of activities to do at home/class before visiting the wood, in the wood itself and after the visit. So there are lots of options and ideas. We are in the process of finalising the last few which will be added soon, but here's what we have so far:

1. Furnace and fireworks

These activities will help you explore and understand how the landscape is always changing over time due to the influences of people and nature. Discover the processes involved in the Weald iron industry and it’s influence on the local people of Brede and the woodland. Also play the downloadable board game Grest Sanders to find out more about the our with a little competition.

2. Ivy spidy board game

A downloadable board game a little like snakes and ladder but with a quizzical twist!

3. Butterflies

Explore the variety of butterflies found within the habitats of Brede High Woods and understand their lifecycles, survival strategies and their relationships and interactions with the environment.

4. Discovering charcoal

To explore and understand the process of charcoal making, we visit Tom and his family in the 16th century. Find out what life was like for the people working in the woods and how the charcoal industry was important. Play the downloadable Great Sanders board game to discover how our dependence on charcoal has changed and the things we still use charcoal for today (download link above in Furnace and fireworks).
