Arable plants walk at Langley Vale Wood
Join us for a guided walk at Langley Vale Wood, discovering the rare arable plants that call this woodland home.
Langley Vale Wood, Ashtead
Come along to Langley Vale Wood to help us find arable plants and learn more about why these species are so important.
Previously an arable farm, Langley Vale Wood was acquired by us in 2014. Nearly 10 years on, the site is a haven for flora and fauna. Its hidden treasures include the many arable plant species left over from its agricultural past, some of which are of national and international importance.
On this guided walk, we’ll explore the site in search of these arable plants with help from our trusted volunteers.
This is a free event, but booking in advance via Eventbrite is essential.
There are no toilet facilities onsite. The nearest public toilets are on Woodfield Lane in Ashtead (KT21 1AT).
Please dress appropriately for the weather, including sturdy footwear, suncream and water if needed.
If the weather is severe, the walk will be cancelled, so please check your emails the day before.
Please make the Woodland Trust team aware of any medical issues (for example, asthma, diabetes, or other conditions) before the start of the walk.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian.

- Price: free, although car parking charges do apply. Donations to support the management of our woodlands are welcome.

Grid reference: TQ 20020 57184 - Access: this walk will be approximately 2.5 hours long. It will take place partly on footpaths and partly on uneven ground with slight inclines. The walk will pass through gated areas.
Unfortunately, the route we have planned isn’t suitable for prams or people with mobility issues. This surfaced car park has more than 70 spaces, including disabled parking and RolecEV charging for electric vehicles. There is a charge to use the car park, with all funds going back into the maintenance of Langley Vale Wood. Charges are as follows:

You can pay at the onsite payment machines using a contactless card, or go through the RingGo app. Please note that the machines do not take cash. - Dogs: well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome, but please ensure they are kept on their leads throughout the event.
