This is an excellent woodland, open sandstone and heathland area with many paths which criss cross the common. The native woodland is mainly Silver birch and Oak. The common can be accessed from the car park off Telegraph Road. There are superb views of the Dee area and the Welsh coast from the summit of the common. A number of red sandstone outcrops can be accessed from the paths. Royden park can also be accessed which has a tea shop, open grassland and pond fishing.
