This ancient woodland now located within a housing estate was enclosed by farmland until the 1990s. The main tree species are oak and hazel plus some wild service trees. The hazel is coppiced to encourage wildlife and to provide wood for rural crafts such as wicker fencing. Yellow primroses and bluebells provide a riot of spring colour and attract butterflies and moths. The copse is also home to tits, jays, woodpeckers, wood mice and badgers. Main access is via Boltons Lane.
